Make Your Mom Proud with this Mother’s Day Brunch Recipe
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008Instead of scrambling for flowers or chocolates this Mother’s Day, surprise your mom with something really special - a quiche! This simple Quiche Lorraine is easy to make and perfect a family brunch.

INGREDIENTS
1 (10-inch) unbaked pie crust or puff pastry
1/4 cup finely chopped white or green onions
1-1/2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 cup crisply cooked bacon, crumbled (or finely diced ham)
5 eggs
1 egg yolk
2-1/2 cups half-and-half
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Dash pepper
2 dashes cayenne pepper (optional)
1 cup (4 oz. Sargento® Artisan Blends™ Shredded Swiss Cheese
DIRECTIONS
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Baking Time: 38 minutes
Serves: 6
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Line pie plate with pie crust or puff pastry. Bake in preheated 400°F oven 8 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook onions in butter until transparent; mix with bacon or ham; set aside.
- Turn oven down to 375°F.
- Beat eggs and yolk lightly. Blend in half-and-half, nutmeg, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper, if desired.
- Place meat and onion mixture in pie crust. Top with cheese; pour egg mixture over cheese.
- Bake in preheated 375°F oven 30 minutes or until filling is golden brown and puffy.
